2010 Draft Rewind: Justin Schafer, 34th Rounder

In 2010, Justin Schafer was the third highest round draft pick that signed with the Mets.

The Mets 35th and 36th Round picks did not sign with the team.

Justin Schafer#36 Pick RHP Jesen Dygestile-Therrien was drafted in the 17th Round of the 2011 draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and most recently spent 2013 with the Gulf Coast League Phillies (Rookie).

#35 Pick RHP Josh Easley was drafted in the 23rd round of the 2013 draft by the Miami Marlins and played for the Gulf Coast League Marlins (Rookie), Batavia Muckdogs of the New York Penn League (A-), and Jupiter Hammerheads (A+).

Infielder Justin Schafer from California signed with the Mets and played two seasons (2010-2011) before being released on March 31, 2012.  He is the little brother of OF Logan Schafer of the Milwaukee Brewers (MLB 2011-2013).

2010 was split between the Kingsport Mets (Rookie) and Brooklyn Cyclones (A-).

2011 was spent with the Gulf Coast League Mets (Rookie) after a shoulder injury forced him to miss most of the season and he appeared in only eight games.

Justin played in 52 games in his minor league career, batting .294 with a home run and 25 RBI.

Justin had 201 AB, scored 23 runs, 59 hits, 13 Doubles, and a Triple. He walked 17 times, struck out 29 times, and had a .347 OBP.

Justin appeared in 18 games at 2B, one game at 3B, 22 games at SS.
