Noah Syndergaard

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York recently composed a list of the Mets organizational leaders for 2013.

Outfielder Dustin Lawley, who started the year in St. Lucie and finished the year in Vegas, led in both HR and RBI with 26 and 96 respectively.

First baseman Jayce Boyd who split time between Savannah and St. Lucie, led the organization in batting average, hitting .330 for the year. Wilmer Flores finished second to Boyd, hitting .321 for the 51’s last year. Top catching prospect Kevin Plawecki finished 5th, hitting .305.

Cesar Puello, who was suspended for PED’s and his connection to the Biogenesis clinic last year, appeared on the list several times. He hit 16 homeruns and stole 24 bases in just 331 at bats. Puello was once considered a top 100 prospect, being ranked as the 77th best prospect in baseball prior to 2011 by Baseball America. He took a step forward last year and started to live up to the hype.

As for the pitching side, we see all the familiar names. Organizational pitcher of the year Gabriel Ynoa led the way with 15 wins and a 2.72 ERA for Savannah.

Rafael Montero came in right behind him tallying 12 wins with 150 strikeouts to go with a 2.78 ERA between Binghamton and Vegas.

Noah Syndergaard appeared on the list as well compiling a 3.06 ERA and 133 strikeouts splitting time with St Lucie and Binghamton and 51′s closer Jeff Walters led the way for relievers with 38 saves.

We’ve already seen Wilmer Flores at the MLB level and I’d expect Rafael Montero be the first of these names to make the jump this year; perhaps even in a bullpen role early on.
