2020 Standings Would Give Mets 10th Pick in 2021 Draft

The Mets finished their disappointing 2020 season with a 26-34 record, tying them with the Nationals for last place in the National League East. This also means – that if Major League Baseball uses the 2020 standings for the draft order as reported by Jeff Passan – that the Mets would have the No. 10 pick the 2021 draft.

The Mets have only had the No. 10 pick once and they took a left-handed hitting outfielder named Michael Conforto from Oregon State University in the 2014 draft.

MLB Pipeline currently has prep outfielder Tyree Reed as their No. 10 prospect heading into the draft. He is a left-handed hitting outfielder committed to Oregon State University.

While there’s certainly expected to be turnover in the Mets front office once the sale is approved to Steve Cohen, you have to imagine the successful amateur scout-group led by Tommy Tanous and Marc Tramuta are safe.
