Nashville 4, Las Vegas 0
The Las Vegas 51s were limited to four hits Thursday in being blanked by the host Nashville Sounds, 4-0.
The 51s’ Giancarlo Alvarado held Nashville to one run on six hits in pitching into the seventh inning, but Las Vegas couldn’t break through against Nashville starter Chris Narveson. Narveson fanned eight batters in seven innings, handing Las Vegas its third straight defeat. Alvarado finds his ERA dropping to 1.96 in the PCL after another solid start and honestly looks like a great depth signing for the Mets at this point. He may come into play when we run into innings-limits later on in the season for guys like Wheeler or Mejia.
Outside of Ruben Tejada reaching third base in the first inning, The 51s only had one other runner reach scoring position in the final eight innings. The 51s struck out ten times overall and drew only one walk (Tejada).
The series finale is at 5:05 p.m. Friday.
Giancarlo Alvarado: 6.1 IP, 6 H, 1 HR, 3 BB, 1 ER, 3 K
Jack Leathersich: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 K
