Las Vegas 13, Sacramento 4

In a weird game that was called early due to extreme wind conditions, the 51s blew away the River Cats last night in Sacramento.

In what’s becoming a running theme, Las Vegas jumped out to a lead early on– scoring five runs in the first thanks to a pair of two-run hits off the bats of Wilmer Flores (double) and Jordany Valdespin (single). Sacramento would answer back in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs off starter Jacob deGrom.

The 51s offense would explode again in the fourth, thanks to homers by Zach Lutz and Flores (second of the game). Ruben Tejada would add an RBI double, and Valdespin would later triple.

deGrom would settle down after the first, allowing just one more run. He would only pitch four innings, however, after running his pitch count up to 102 pitches. Las Vegas reliever Sean Henn would pitch two scoreless innings of relief without surrendering a run.

Las Vegas would tack on three more runs in the top of the 7th inning, two coming on a Brandon Hicks double. The game would be called after the 51s batted in that inning.
