The Las Vegas 51s split two games today at Colorado Springs, winning the nightcap 12-8 after falling 4-3 in the first game.

Jamie Hoffman hit a three-run home run and Kirk Nieuwenhuis followed with a two-run shot in the fourth inning of the second game to help the 51s pull away with a seven-run inning. Jack Leathersich was tagged for four runs without even achieving an out, causing his ERA to jump over the 8.00 mark again.

In the first game, the 51s scored three runs in the first inning on a run-scoring double from Mike Baxter, and RBIs from Eric Campbell and Zach Lutz. However, Las Vegas didn’t score the remainder of the game, and Colorado Springs plated the winning run in the eighth. Jacob deGrom left that game with a mysterious injury, but John Church stepped up to toss three strong innings out of the pen behind him.

The six-game series at Colorado Springs concludes Thursday. The 51s return to Cashman Field Friday to close the regular season with a series against Tucson.

Las Vegas holds a two-game lead over Sacramento in the Pacific Southern Division standings with four games remaining. Sacramento won in the ninth today, beating Fresno 4-3.
