The Scorpions won their game 6-5 and moved to 7-7 on the season.

Luis Guillorme continued to shine in the AFL, going 2-for-4, with two runs, a double, and a walk. Luis Guillorme talked to William Boor of MLB.com after the game.

Guillorme told Boor, “I worked on a couple things in the cage with Lamar Johnson, our hitting coordinator, who is here, and it translated well to the game, gave me good results.” Lamar Johnson was a Mets hitting coach in 2014 and now works around the organization.

Guillorme also said, “I feel really comfortable at the plate. Today, even more than usual after those little tweaks before the game.” Guillorme has always had a good OBP in the minors but has not really hit for much power at any point in the minors. Thus far in the AFL, Guillorme has a .462 slugging percentage in albeit a small sample size. Hopefully he keeps this up. Guillorme will almost certainly be added to the 40-man roster this winter and is renowned for his glove work. Him being able to hit would only add to his prospect profile.

David Thompson and Kevin Kaczmarski also started in this game. Thompson went 1-for-5 with a run scored while hitting third and DHing.

Overall, Thompson is hitting .364/.400/.636 in eight games. This is a carry over from his hot finish to the 2017 minor league season. Hopefully he is starting to regain his power from college and high school.

Kaczmarski moved to eighth in the lineup and went 1-for-4. Kaczmarski is now hitting .400/.455/.550 while playing mostly left field.

On the pitching side, knuckleballer Mickey Jannis continued his strong pitching. He went five innings and only gave up two runs (one earned) while striking out five. Jannis only threw 65 pitches but was likely pulled to get other pitchers an opportunity. Jannis has only given up one earned run in 12 innings.
