Position Players

Peter Alonso

Season Stats: .239/.321/.465, 4 2B, 4 HR, 14 RBI
Week Stats: 1-for-15, R, RBI

There are two ways to look at the way Alonso just had.  You can dwell on him struggling at the plate and his racking up strikeouts (20 strikeouts in 19 games), or you can just look at his Fall Star Game performance.  In that game, he hit incredible homer he hit off of Nate Pearson‘s 103 MPH and made diving stop to rob an extra base hit.

Andres Gimenez

Season Stats: .129/.308/.323, 2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI
Week Stats: 1-for-4, BB

Gimenez’s struggles have continued.  In addition to his .129, he was 0-for-2 in the Fall Star Game. One thing of note with Gimenez’s struggles is before AFL play even started, he had already played 30 more games than he had ever played as a professional.

Desmond Lindsay

Season Stats: .348/.375/.783, 2B, 3 HR, 4 RBI
Week Stats: 1-for-3

In a truncated week due to the Fall Star Game on Saturday, Lindsay would play in just one game. With the single, Lindsay now has a hit in five of the six games he has played. So far, more than any Mets prospect, he has risen his profile.

Ali Sanchez

Season Stats: .133/.278/.200, 2B, RBI
Week Stats: 1-for-3, 2B

After really struggling in the beginning of league play, Sanchez has been playing much better of late. In his last two starts, Sanchez has a hit. In his last game, he recorded his first extra base hit.

Pitchers

Gerson Bautista

Season Stats: 1-1, 2,70 ERA, 1.100 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9, 9.0 K/9
Week Stats: 2 G, 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, K

Bautista has turned things around, and he has not allowed an earned run over his last five innings pitched. One of the main reasons why he is has been throwing strikes and not walking batters. In fact, Bautista has not issued a walk in his last five appearances.

Matt Blackham

Season Stats: 0-1, 2.57 ERA, 2.286 WHIP, 11.5 BB/9, 9.0 K/9
Week Stats: G, 2.0 IP, 4 H, R, o ER, BB, 3 K

With Blackham walking multiple batters in four of his seven appearances, it was only a matter of time before an opponent scored a run off of him. That happened this past week with him walking two and allowing a hit leading to the first run he has allowed all season.

Stephen Nogosek

Season Stats: 0-0, 3.68 ERA, 2.046 WHIP, 7.4 BB/9, 8.6 K/9
Week Stats: 2 G, 1.0 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K

Nogosek has been playing with fire throughout AFL play with the amount of walks he has issued. He was finally burned this week.  After having five consecutive scoreless appearances, he has now allowed runs in each of his last two appearances.

Joe Zanghi

Season Stats: 0-1, 7.11 ERA, 1.580 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9, 8.5 BB/9
Week Stats: G, 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, BB, K

Zanghi finally issued a walk after not issuing one over his first five appearances of the season. While he did break that streak, he did continue his strikeout streak.  He has struck out at least one batter in four straight appearances and in five of his six appearances.
