POSITION PLAYERS

Peter Alonso

Season Stats: .286/.369/.571, 4 2B, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 2 SB
Week Stats: 5-for-20, R, 2 2B, HR, 2 RBI

With another homer this week, Alonso remains the league leader.  He also leads the league in extra base hits, and he is one off the lead for total bases.  In essence, Alonso is continuing to put up the same numbers he did during the regular season in the Arizona Fall League.

Andres Gimenez

Season Stats: .111/.294/.333, 6 R, 2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI, CS
Week Stats: 1-for-10, 3 R, 3B, 3 RBI

The highlight of the week for Gimenez was the October 24 game against the Salt River Rafters.  In that game, he drew a bases loaded walk, and he would hit a two RBI triple.  Of note, he played second base in the game.  He has been playing there increasingly, which is perhaps an indication of where the Mets may seem him in the near future.

Desmond Lindsay

Season Stats: .350/.381/.850, 4 R, 2B, 3 HR, 4 RBI
Week Stats: 3-for-9, R, HR, 2 RBI

Despite playing just five games during the Arizona Fall League season, Lindsay is third in the league in homers.  If he had enough at-bats to qualify, he would rank second in the league in OPS.  Overall, this is a positive sign his retooled swing will provide significantly better results during the 2019 season, which would put him back on the map.

Ali Sanchez

Season Stats: .083/.267/.083, 2 R, RBI
Week Stats: 1-for-4, R, RBI, K

The one game Sanchez played last week was his best.  Not only did he get a hit, but he was strong behind the plate.  With the Salt River Rafters running wild, Sanchez would throw out two of the five players who attempted a stolen base.

PITCHERS

Gerson Bautista

Season Stats: 1-1, 3.12 ERA, 6 G, 8.2 IP, 1.038 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9, 9.3 K/9
Week Stats: 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 3.2 IP, H, 0 BB, 7 K

After a tough start to the AFL season, Bautista has settled in, and he is pitching much better.  Over his last three appearances, he has not issued a free pass, and he has struck out seven of the last 12 batters he has faced.

Matt Blackham

Season Stats: 0-1, 3.60 ERA, 6 G, 5.0 IP, 2.200 WHIP, 14.4 BB/9, 7.2 K/9
Week Stats: 0-0, 5.39 ERA, 1.2 IP, H, ER, 4 BB, 2 K

After he had put together two strong performances together, Blackham struggled in both of his appearances last week.  The biggest reason for his struggles has been the walks.  In four of his six appearances, he has walked two batters.  On the positive side, he has not given up many hits, and he has struck out a batter in four of his six appearances.

Stephen Nogosek

Season Stats: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 G, 6.1 IP, 1.106 WHIP, 5.7 BB/9, 7.1 K/9
Week Stats: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K

Despite struggling with command and walking batters, Nogosek continues to put zeros on the board.  One the reasons why is he has not allowed many hits.  In fact, he has allowed just three hits over 6.1 innings pitched.  In fact, the opponents batting average against him is .136.

Joe Zanghi

Season Stats: 0-1, 8.44 ERA, 5 G, 5.1 IP, 1.689 WHIP, 0.0 BB/9, 8.4 K/9
Week Stats: 0-0, 20.25 ERA, G, 1.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

After three straight scoreless appearances to start the season, Zanghi has been hit hard allowing multiple earned runs in each of his last two appearances.  In his lone appearance last week, he allowed two homers raising his ERA to 8.44.  Even with him not issuing a walk this season, opposing batters are now hitting .375 against him
