Game two of the SAL Southern Division Championship Series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Asheville Tourists resumed on Saturday at Grayson Stadium.

With Asheville leading the series 1-0, Savannah found themselves down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning before the game was postponed, and to be completed on Saturday.

The game was resumed with one out and a runner on second base, but Savannah could not overcome the small deficit and Asheville held on to win the game 2-1. The Tourists swept the series two games to none to eliminate the defending champions.

Savannah scored the first run of the game when Victor Cruzado singled, went to third on a single by Dominic Smith and scored on a sacrifice  fly by shortstop Amed Rosario.

Leading off the 4th inning for Asheville, first baseman Correlle Prime hit a line drive home run over the left field fence to tie the score at 1-1.

Asheville took the lead in the 8th inning when David Dahl led off with a double and moved to third on a ground out. A wild pitch by Gnats reliever, Akeel Morris allowed Dahl to score.

Savannah starter, John Gant, pitched 6.2 solid innings, allowed one run on five hits, walked two and struck out 10. Darwin Frias pitched 0.2 innings, allowed one run on one hit, struck out one, without allowing a walk, but took the loss. Akeel Morris pitched the final 1.2 innings and struck out three.

Savannah had seven hits for the game and Smith finished 3-for-4.

Asheville now plays Hagerstown, Northern Division Winner, for the SAL Championship.
