The only difference between Harol Gonzalez now, and Gonzalez in his last start, is that the right-hander now carries the title of New York Penn-League All-Star. He gave the Brooklyn Cyclones (26-25) seven scoreless innings in their 3-0 defeat of the Vermont Lake Monsters (19-32)

Gonzalez added to his list of impressive starts this season on Tuesday by striking out seven batters while scattering four hits. Across his last five starts, the 21-year-old hurler is 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA and 38 strikeouts against five walks.

The Cyclones got on the board early against 2016 second-round pick Logan Shore. With the bases juiced in the second inning, Brandon Brosher laced a broken-bat single into center, scoring two. Desmond Lindsay smacked his second home run of the season over the left field wall in the sixth inning to extend the lead to three.

Peter Alonso was impressive, recording his 12th double of the season in the third inning. The ball was measured at 108 miles per hour off the bat. The Mets’ second-round pick now has an extra base hit in six of his last seven games. Nick Sergakis and Ali Sanchez were the only Cyclones to fail to record a hit.

Gary Cornish worked two scoreless innings to nail down his first professional save.

Jacob Zanon, who currently leads the New York Penn-League with 20 stolen bases, suffered a torn labrum while swinging the bat during Sunday’s game, and will miss the remainder of the season. Zanon was chasing the team record for swiped bags, which Angel Pagan set at 30 in 2001.

The Cyclones continue their series with Vermont on Wednesday, as Merandy Gonzalez (4-2, 3.54) will oppose Jesus Zambrano (2-2, 5.53).
