The Mets were well represented on MLB Pipeline’s prospect team of the week list published on Monday, as they occupied the entire right side of the infield. First baseman Peter Alonso of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and second baseman Gavin Cecchini of the Las Vegas 51s earned a selection for their efforts in the period ending on April 29.

Alonso made the list by slashing an other-worldly .545/.667/1.136 in six games, including four in a row with a home run. Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old was also named the Eastern League’s player of the week and made Baseball America’s hot sheet.

In five games last week, Cecchini hit .478/.500/.826 with 11 total hits, tops among minor league second basemen. He posted a four-hit game on Friday, his eighth multi-hit performance of the season.

Alonso and Cecchini were the first two Mets prospects to earn spots on the Pipeline list this year.
