Las Vegas 5, Fresno 0
The Las Vegas 51s won their fifth straight game today, blanking the visiting Fresno Grizzles, 6-0.
One day after erasing a seven-run deficit for an extra-inning win against Fresno, Giancarlo Alvarado and Robert Carson combined to limit the Grizzlies to just six hits. Alvarado walked three, but they turned out to be inconsequential. He was dominant when the Mets organization first acquired him before running into a rough spot, but his ERA drops to 3.21 in the PCL, which is still respectable.
Zach Lutz went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the 51s today and Lucas Duda scored two runs. Matt den Dekker continued to stay hot and added a pair of hits of his own.
The victory was the 51s’ ninth win in their past 10 games, propelling them to first place in the Pacific Southern Division with 11 games remaining in the season. The 51s (74-57) lead second-place Sacramento by one and a half games. Sacramento’s game today at Colorado Springs was rained out.
