Las Vegas 9, Tacoma 0

The new recruit from out of the Mexican League, Giancarlo Alvarado, was very impressive in his Triple-A debut where he tossed six sparkling innings. He allowed six hits and two walks, but held the Rainiers scoreless, and struck out seven batters. I don’t know how long he’ll able to keep this up — but he damn sure was impressive in his debut with the 51s. That being said, it didn’t hurt that the 51s dropped a nine-spot on the board in support of him.

A sacrifice fly from Francisco Pena scored a run in the second, and Pena would add another sacrifice fly in the third before Kai Gronauer would slam a two-run home run. Brian Bixler, Rylan Sandoval, and Francisco Pena would each go deep in the five-run sixth inning to wrap up the scoring for Las Vegas.

Jacob deGrom is scheduled to start tomorrow.
