The Indios de Mayaguez beat the Cangrejeros de Santurce last night by a 1-0 score despite getting only three hits. Third baseman T.J. Rivera had one of the hits in his 1 for 4 night, he is now hitting .316 during the Puerto Rican League playoffs. Indios now has a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 championship series.

Indios won behind a strong start my Mets minor league lefty Andrew Barbosa who pitched six scoreless innings. He allowed four hits, walk, hit one batter, and struck out three. He is now 3-1 during the postseason and has now given up only four runs in 21.2 innings (1.66 ERA) including three scoreless starts.

Johnny Monell didn’t get the start for the Mayaguez but made a pinch hit appearance and walked, he 2 for 7 during the championship round.

For the second time in the playoffs, Xorge Carrillo had to leave a game with an apparent injury. Last night he left in the third inning after a collision at the plate in the second. Exactly a week ago he left the game in an ambulance after being hit in the face with a pitch. He escaped with only a fractured nose and returned to the lineup just days after the incident.

He was 0 for 1 last night with a strikeout before leaving and is now hitting .311 during the Mexican Winter League playoffs for the Aguilas de Mexicali. The Aguilas lost last night and now trail the Venados de Mazatlan 3-1 in the best-of-7 championship round.

Rafael Montero faced two batters last night for the Leones del Escogido, hitting a batter with the bases loaded to score a run then striking out Ozzie Martinez to limit the damage. He has allowed four runs in 10 innings and struck out eight in the Dominican Winter League.
