Needing a starting pitcher for tonight’s ballgame, left-hander Angel Cuan will be making his Eastern League debut tonight with the B-Mets, as they take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels in Game 2 of a three-game set. Binghamton was able to make room on the roster for Cuan by putting Noah Syndergaard on the temporarily inactive list. Don’t worry, he’s still slated to start tomorrow at NYSEG Park.

Cuan, who was recently relegated back to the bullpen with High-A St. Lucie, hasn’t started since pitching against Palm Beach on June 27th. He got hit hard, allowing nine runs (six earned) on nine hits (one homer), four walks, and three strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched.

Since then, he’s appeared in three ballgames as a reliever, and has gotten himself back on track. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last six innings pitched, striking out eight, walking none, and giving up just two hits.

The 23-year-old was in his second full season with St. Lucie in the Florida State League, and is 6-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 70.2 innings pitched. He struck out 64 hitters while walking 10.

Congratulations to Cuan on his promotion! This sounds more like a temporary promotion, but it’s still exciting. Let’s hope he throws well tonight!
