Mets relief prospect Paul Sewald got the save with a scoreless ninth inning in his Mexican Winter League debut on Wednesday night. He followed that up with a perfect final inning last night with two strikeouts to end the Naranjeros de Hermosillos’ 4-2 victory.

Sewald’s teammate and former Met Eric Young Jr. went 1 for 4 with a run scored in the game.

Catching prospect Xorge Carrillo went 1 for 4 with run batted in for the Aguilas de Mexicali in their 9-4 win over Venados de Mazatlan. The long-time Binghamton Mets catcher is 1 for 7 on the young season.

In other Mexican League action the Tomateros de Culiacan beat the Charros de Jalisco by a 4-0 score. No Mets minor leaguers were involved but it did feature former Mets Lastings Milledge (1 for 4, Jalisco) and Mike Carp (0 for 4, Culiacan) playing against each other.

In Venezuelan Winter League action, Mets minor league pitcher Darwin Ramos retired the two batters he faced for the Navegantes del Magallanes. He struck out one and stranded both inherited runners in the Magallanes 4-3 loss.
