Scottsdale Scorpions (2-3)

PITCHING

RHP Mickey Jannis
Stats: 0-1, G, GS, 3.0 IP, H, R, BB, K, 0.67 WHIP

Jannis pitched well in his one start allowing just one unearned run.  He would get tagged with the loss because the Scorpions bullpen allowed 10 runs, and the offense was shut down scoring just one run.

RHP Kyle Regnault
Stats:
0-0, G, 2.0 IP, H, BB, 4 K, 1.000 WHIP

Regnault would make just one appearance, and he would dazzle in that appearance.  Even when he let up a two out triple, he responded by striking out the last batter of the inning.

RHP Tim Peterson
Stats:
0-0, 27.00 ERA, G, 0.1 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB, K, 12.00 WHIP

On Saturday, Peterson entered into a seventh inning that was already a nightmare for the Scorpions.  He didn’t do much to stop the bleeding allowing three straight hits to allow an inherited run to score, and he then issued a bases loaded walk to force in a run.

RHP Matt Pobereyko
Stats:
0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2.2 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 1.13 WHIP

Pobereyko was twice sent out to close out games the Scorpions were losing by more than five runs.  In both instances, he limited the damage with 2.2 scoreless innings.

OFFENSE

LF Kevin Kaczmarski
Stats:
2 G, 9 AB, 5 H, 2B, RBI, 2 K, SB, .556/.556/.667

Kaczmarski had a multi-hit game in each of his starts, and he’s perfect in stolen base attempts.

MI Luis Guillorme
Stats:
2 G, 8 AB, R, 4 H, RBI, K, .500/.500/.500

Guillorme was terrific at the plate going 2-4 in each game he played.  In the two games he played, he played one at second and one at short.  In his start at short, he had an error which led to an unearned run giving Jannis a loss.

3B David Thompson
Stats:
3 G, 11 AB, R, 3 H, 2 2B, BB, 3 K, SB, .273/.333/.455

There may or may not be a correlation, but Thompson was 3-8 while playing third base, and he was hitless in his one appearance as the team’s DH.

C Tomas Nido
Stats:
3 G, 12 AB, R, 2 H, HR, RBI, 5 K, .167/.167/.417

After a tough season, it has been a tough start for Nido in the Arizona Fall League.  He’s only hitting .167 with five strikeouts.  Base runners are 3-3 in stolen bases off of him, and he’s already recorded two passed balls.   Surprisingly, neither of those passed balls occurred when he was catching Nido.  On the bright side, he did hit a home run.
