“In early June the world of leaf and blade and flowers explode, and every sunset is different.” – John Steinbeck, The World of Our Discontent

In Binghamton over the last two seasons, the popularity of baseball has exploded as Pedro Lopez and his B-Mets have hit their stride putting together a run of winning baseball that earned back-to-back playoff appearances and an Eastern League Championship.

Can the Binghamton Mets find lightning in a bottle for the third straight season during the month of June?

 Year April/May Pct June Pct
 2013 31-25 .554 20-5 .800
 2014 30-24 .556 19-9 .679
 2015 27-25 .519 9-6 .600

As the chart clearly attests, the month of June has been a difference-maker during the past two Binghamton baseball seasons, a cornerstone in back-to-back Eastern League Championship runs.

After two months to observe, evaluate, and work with his ballclub, Pedro Lopez knows his squad pretty well and he knows how to push the buttons to reap productive baseball outputs.

Will that Lopez magic repeat itself, yet again, this June in Binghamton?

The recent play of Lopez’s B-Mets indicates they could be trending in the right direction once again during the month of June.

After losing five of their first six games during the current month, the B-Mets appear to have turned things around. Going into Friday’s game in New Hampshire, Binghamton had won seven games in a row to lift themselves back into the playoff picture.

Binghamton received good news during their three game series against the Portland’s Sea Dogs. Brandon Nimmo, out for several weeks with a leg injury, was back in the lineup during the final game of the Portland series ripping two doubles for Binghamton.

Michael Conforto continues to tear up Eastern League pitching. In his last ten games for the B-Mets, Conforto is hitting .405 including back-to-back three- hit games and an overall on-base-percentage of .500.

Binghamton baseball under Pedro Lopez – the best.
