The Binghamton Mets went yard two times Wednesday night at the Diamond in Richmond blasting their way past the Flying Squirrels, 5-1.

The win lifts Binghamton’s record to 69-47, the high level point for the B-Mets so far in 2014.

Brian Burgamy ripped his 21st round tripper of the season, a solo shot, to start a 3-run B-Met rally in the first. Dustin Lawley worked a walk and hustled to third when Darrell Ceciliani singled. When Ceciliani swiped second, Richmond catcher Tyler LaTorre’s throw went into centerfield allowing Lawley to score.  A T.J. Rivera base hit plated Ceciliani for the final run in the inning.

The three run B-Met cushion would give Binghamton starter Greg Peavy all the support he would need in chalking up his team high 9th victory of the year.  Peavey threw 6 2/3 shutout innings allowing only three hits while walking three and striking out four.  Peavy’s scoreless outing lowers the B-Met right-handers earned run average to a stingy 2.58.

Chase Hutchinson got the final out in the seventh, Jon Velasquez pitched a scoreless eighth, and Cody Satterwhite allowed a rare run in the ninth before closing the door on Richmond.

The B-Mets added on to their run total in the sixth when Burgamy drew a base-on-balls and Lawley blasted home run number 20 over the left field wall.

Ceciliani has been hot as of late, hitting safely in eight straight games and raising his batting average to .279.  Burgamy’s first inning round tripper extended his hitting streak to 10 straight contests.

An interesting side note:  B-Mets manager Pedro Lopez used pitcher Tyler Pill as a pinch hitter and Pill rewarded Lopez with a double.  Pill, who was a two-position baseball star in college at Cal State Fullerton, is now hitting .471 on the year and has yet to strike out.
