We have decided as a team here at MMO/MMN to take a look at the best individual tools among Mets prospects. We’ll look at the talents of the pitchers after we already did the position players which you can see here. They are going to be in a group of five that is in no particular order. Each writer had to come up with a player for that tool without repeating a player for that given category. We decided to leave Steven Matz out of this fun exercise because he would dominate and should never pitch in the minors again. Here they are…

We managed to cover most of the Mets top pitching prospects in this exercise with the highest rated pitcher not making any of our tools being left-hander Thomas Szapucki (#29). It would be pretty easy to pick out the better prospects just by how times you see the names like Gsellman and Ynoa on here.
One of the names I would like to point out that didn’t get mentioned is Adrian Almeida, he is a 21-year old lefty who reportedly hit 97 MPH with his fastball last year despite his listed 6’0, 150 pound frame. I was surprised that Adonis Uceta failed to get mentioned too, he has a good fastball (mid-90’s) and good control. He was also number 32 on our Top 80 Prospect countdown.
Four players I think could surprise us in 2016 are Chris Flexen, Harol Gonzalez, Nabil Crismatt, and Tyler Badamo. All had solid years statistically in 2015 while also taking a step forward in their development as better all-around pitchers.

Nice work guys. Have to agree on the Uceta omission.
Like the Reyes selection Teddy, a bit old for his level, though the fastball does have life. Watched him talk and work with bullpen arms in his off days.
Teddy likes Reyes, I think he could end up being pushed to bullpen like Familia/Robles/Mejia. Duff had a good year too, tough when you don’t get to see St. Lucie play much.
16 walks in 94 career innings. Doesn’t get enough k’s or throw very hard. I see him as an end of the bullpen guy who can get that needed DP in the middle innings
Nice work! Maybe the format limits the info however. How about allowing duplicate votes for the first choice (to see if there´s a strong consensus) and show a second place vote that doesn´t allow dupes (can duplicate a first place vote, but not among the 2nd place votes)?
Great job guys! I’d like to see you follow the progress of each of these guys and what categories the show up in by the end this season!
