MiLB: April 29 - St. Lucie Mets at Tampa Yankees

More and more young and exciting Mets’ prospects have been getting calls from the organization letting them know that they are being invited to big-league camp this spring.

Adam Rubin has reported the two latest to receive the call are left-handed relief pitcher Jack Leathersich and outfielder Dustin Lawley.

I recently named Lawley as one of my prospects to watch in 2014, as he has been on the fast-track, using power and athleticism to climb up to Triple-A in only his second full season of professional baseball.

Leathersich literally puts the K in the name Jack, and he has been a strike-out wizard thus far in his professional career. The problem with Leathersich has been allowing too many walks. I’m thinking that being under the tutelage of Frank Viola, the new pitching coach in Las Vegas, Leathersich will make incredible strides, and be in the Mets bullpen at some point during 2014.

This is definitely a great season to be heading down to St. Lucie to take in some spring training games with all these exciting prospects—is it February yet??? If they invite T.J. Rivera, my day will be complete.
