The Binghamton Mets have released their official 2017 Opening Day roster which you can see here.
Same names as below, but with infielder Jeff McNeil starting the season on the 7-day disabled list and outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski on the temporarily inactive list to deal with a personal matter.
Original Report – April 4
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets released their preliminary roster on Tuesday. The list is headlined by top prospects Luis Guillorme and P.J. Conlon, and features 13 players who made stops in Binghamton last season.
The newly named Rumble Ponies enter their first season under Luis Rojas, who comes to the Southern Tier after managerial jobs with St. Lucie (2015-16), Savannah (2012-14), and the GCL Mets (2011). In those six seasons, Rojas has amassed a 400-339 (.541) record.
The Rumble Ponies’ roster is listed in its entirety below:
Pitchers (14):
RHP Cory Burns
LHP P.J. Conlon
RHP Casey Delgado
LHP Ben Griset
RHP Mickey Jannis
RHP Luis Mateo
RHP Corey Oswalt
RHP Tim Peterson
RHP Tyler Pill
LHP Kyle Regnault
RHP Scarlyn Reyes
LHP Kelly Secrest
RHP Corey Taylor
Catchers (2):
Infielders (8):
Outfielders (3):
Pill will hold the distinction of being the first starting pitcher in Rumble Ponies history, although it’s hardly an honor when you’re returning to Binghamton for a fifth season. Pill will be followed in the rotation by Conlon, Oswalt, Delgado, and Jannis, whose kunckleball earned him a 5.69 ERA in 27 starts last year.
It will be exciting to watch Taylor close games for Binghamton this season, after he impressed in his first major league camp in March. Lefties Baldonado and Griset are also names worth keeping an eye on.
It’s rare that a team’s biggest offensive weapon is their catcher, but that appears to be the case for this Rumble Ponies squad. Nido is coming off a career renaissance, after his .320 average led the Florida State League. He also set career highs in nearly every category, including cutting his strikeouts in half.
Other highlights in the lineup include Thompson and Kaczmarski, who both join Binghamton in only their second full seasons as a professional. Thompson drove in an astounding 95 runs between St. Lucie and Columbia in 2016, while Kaczmarski hit .280/.360/.418 and swiped 14 bags.
The Rumble Ponies take the field for the first time on Thursday, April 6, against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and make their home debut at NYSEG Stadium on April 13 against the Erie Seawolves.
What happened to Jhoan Urena?
Jc Rod skipped over PCL?
As I predicted Biondi was not skipped to Vegas.
Why did they sign Mier with all the infielders we have?
I guess Urena will be at PSL , Part 3
Hope Kevin Taylor brought his outfielders glove
Lots of pitching but no one that really excites other than Conlon and Taylor
That is certainly what it looks like unfortunately.
JC skipping PSL combined with the signing of Mier doesn’t make a ton of sense even with the strong likelihood that McNeil will start the season on the DL.
Don’t understand why Tyler Pill hasn’t tried out being s position player … I think it’s pretty obvious he’s got a very slim chance of making it to the Majors as a pitcher. But only 8 Ks in 78 PAs is impressive.
But JC can also play some OF.
I´m most interested in Nido and Thompson from this roster. Both have good talent, and are at positions of need for the ML team. It´ll be interesting to see how things develop with them.

Very interesting, have you ever seen his swing?
Right with you on those. I’d also add Kaczmarski to the list: he’s come a long way in a year, and also did well in the games he played with the MEts this spring. With two OFs on their way out as FAs this year and Lagares so injury prone, I’d regard OF as a position of need as well. And no, Ty Kelly does not represent legitimate depth at that position, IMO.
Confirmed: he is in St Lucie again. I notice that Eudor Garcia is not on the roster for any of the Mets top 4 farm clubs. Don’t know the reason for his absence from these lists (injury? release? suspension?). But whatever the reason, his absence may have had something to do with keeping Urena in Lucie. Now he can play every day. In Bingo he would not have.

I haven’t. Just going by the numbers. How doesn’t he look?
Pill really needs to try his luck as a position player. Guy can hit.
I gotta look into it, I was curious. Maybe we should reach out
