Bowman Sharp Over Six Shutout Innings In 3-0 St. Lucie Win

Matt Bowman struck out eight and pitched six scoreless innings as the Mets defeated the Charlotte Stone Crabs 3-0 on Monday at Tradition Field.

Bowman allowed four hits and issued one walk to earn his fourth win of the season. Bowman has a combined eight wins between low-A Savannah and St. Lucie this season. He struck out the side in his final inning during the sixth.

The Mets(35-30) scored three runs in the fifth to jump ahead. Robbie Shields had a leadoff single and scored on a Cam Maron RBI double to right-center. Albert Cordero had an RBI double to left to plate Maron to extend the lead to 2-0. Matt den Dekker‘s RBI fielder’s choice made it 3-0. Den Dekker batted leadoff and finished 0-for-4 with an RBI in his first game with St. Lucie. He also had a sliding catch in centerfield.

Matt Reynolds and Shields each had two hits to pace the Mets offense.

Chasen Bradford pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and T.J. Chism earned his seventh save with a 1 1/3 scoreless innings and two strikeouts.

The Mets will host the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. Alex Panteliodis will make the start for the Mets.
