Las Vegas 8, Fresno 0
Francisco Pena‘s double got things started in the second inning, as he drove in two to give Vegas a 2-0 lead. Wilmer Flores started at second base and had another multi-hit night, and scored twice. In the sixth, Eric Campbell came to the plate and jacked a three-run shot to stretch the lead to 5-0. The score would remain that way until the eighth, when Francsico Pena struck again with an RBI single, as did Brandon Hicks. Pena is now batting .310 on the season, and continues to make the most of his opportunity to start. Kirk Nieuwenhuis would cap the night off when he drew a bases loaded walk.
Carlos Torres twirled a gem tonight, going the distance and racking up 11 strikeouts as he thoroughly dominated the Fresno hitters. Torres needed just 107 pitches for the complete game, 72 of which were strikes. The righty gave up just three hits on the night, and allowed zero walks on his way to his fifth win of the season. His 11 strikeouts are a season high, and marks the third time this season he has had double digit strikeouts in a game.
