Mets catching prospect Xorge Carrillo returned to the Aguilas de Mexicali lineup just three days after getting hit in the face with a pitch and leaving the field in an ambulance. He was said to have suffered only a fractured nose and was able to go 1 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored last night. He is now hitting .369 with six doubles and four RBI during the Mexican Winter League playoffs.

The Aguilas won Game One of the championship Round 8-1 over the Venados de Mazatlan in their best-of-7 series.

Jenrry Mejia came into the 7th inning with two on and two out for the Tigres del Licey last night, getting Pedro Lopez to fly out to end the inning. He came back out to start the 8th but was taken out four batters later without recording an out. The first batter reach on an infield single, second on an error, then a balk moving up the runners before Lew Ford knocked in one with a single.

The next pitcher would let both of the inherited runners from Mejia score. Mejia ended up giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits in 0.1 of an inning. He did hit 93 MPH with his fastball according to someone I talked to who was at the game. The Tigres lost to the Leones del Escogido in Game One of the championship round 5-1.

In Puerto Rican League action, the Criollos de Caguas beat the Cangrejeros de Santurce last night forcing a one-game playoff tonight to face the Indios de Mayaguez in the championship. Johnny Monell went 3 for 4 with a run scored for the Criollos, he is now hitting .341 during the playoffs. The starting pitching matchup was a battle of two former Mets, Roy Merritt against Dicky Gonzalez.
