Gavin Cecchini‘s season has been derailed by a broken bone in his foot, but the former top prospect is on the comeback trail. According to Jacob Resnick of MMN, Cecchini will play his first game with the St. Lucie Mets on Monday night.

It’s been a lost campaign for the Mets 2012 first-round pick. So far, this year, he’s hit at a .294/.342/.468 clip in only 30 games with the Las Vegas 51s.  This will mark Cecchini’s first game since May 9.

St. Lucie was involved in a number of other roster transactions as well. Reliever Adam Atkins and outfielder Ian Strom were promoted to the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Additionally, infielder Oliver Pascual was activated from the Fireflies’ DL and sent to Binghamton.

The side-winding Atkins has baffled hitters throughout the year. Despite not having premier velocity, his 2.17 ERA and 9.9 K/9 display how impressive he’s been this year. The Mets 2016 10th-rounder will join Stephen Villines funky reliever for the Rumble Ponies.

Strom, a gifted defender, has slashed .225/.290/.290 with St. Lucie and the GCL Mets in 2018. This will be Pascual’s second stop at Binghamton this year. So far, across three levels in 2018, the catcher has struggled to a .200/.216/.232 line.

The Rumble Ponies also placed a trio of players on the DL. Infielder J.J. Franco, who in is his second year in the Mets organization, speedy outfielder Patrick Biondi, and lefty David Roseboom have all been shut down for the remainder of the year. Also, the St. Lucie Mets put Anthony Dimino on the DL.

Reliever Conner O’Neil and catcher Jose Mena have been transferred from Columbia and the GCL Mets, respectively, to join the St. Lucie squad.

H/T to @nymets945  for sharing some of these transactions first.
