Charleston Edges Savannah 4-3

Game two of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Charleston RiverDogs was played Friday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of 1,705 fans.

Both teams collected 6 hits and the RiverDogs edged the Sand Gnats 4-3.

Charleston scored their first run in the 3rd inning. Abiatal Avelino,3b doubled, stole third base and scored on sacrifice fly by Dustin Flower,dh.

Savannah also scored their first run in the 3rd inning. Luis Guillorme,SS reached first on a bunt single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by John Mora,cf. A single by JC Rodriguez sent Guillorme to third and Guillorme scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Jon Leroux,1b.

In the 5th inning, Charleston scored 3 runs. Jose Javier,LF singled, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error by Savannah’s third baseman, Pedro Perez. Fowler tripled to drive in a run and then scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Savannah scored a run in their 5th inning. Perez walked and advanced to second on a ground out. A single by Rodriguez scores Perez.

The final run for Savannah came in the 6th inning when catcher Thomas Nido doubled, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vincente Lupo,DH.

Leading hitters for the Sand Gnats: Rodriquez was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and Guillorme was 2-for-4 with a run scored and raised his batting average to .346 which ties him for team high.

Game three of the four game series starts at 6:05pm Saturday at Grayson Stadium.
