 Chris Young

Here comes the cavalry.

Terry Collins said that he expects Chris Young to rejoin the Mets on Wednesday in Arizona and accompany the team back to New York, according to a report on ESPN New York.

Young is eligible to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, when the Mets open a weekend series at Citi Field against the Atlanta Braves.

Chris Young started in left field for Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday night and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

During his three game rehab assignment, Young batted .667 (8-for-12) with two home runs, five RBIs, seven runs scored, two walks and one stolen base. Not bad, huh?

With Juan Lagares now on the disabled list with a pulled right hamstring, the timing for Young’s return couldn’t have been any better.

Before straining his right quad during the final exhibition game in Montreal, Young was entering the season on the heels of a spectacular spring training. What I’m excited about is that he doesn’t appear to have lost any of that momentum.
