As part of the $57 million renovations to Clover Park, the New York Mets have built an updated state-of-the art clubhouse for the team to use during Spring Training. Notably, this clubhouse is to be used by Major Leaguers only.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports the Clover Park upgrades do include a renovated clubhouse for the St. Lucie Mets, but it is not one on par with the Major League one. The Mets rationale for the decision was “to give minor leaguers a reminder of the status they’re working to earn.”

In response to that position, former Mets pitcher P.J. Conlon tweeted, “As if having 6 dudes living in a 2 bedroom apartment isn’t enough of a reminder that you’re in A ball.” Conlon was the Mets 2013 13th round pick, and he pitched for St. Lucie in 2016.

As reported by Keona Gardner of the TC Palm, the renovations for the park are behind schedule, and they do not include aspects of the original plans like a 360 degree concourse and Little League fields.

An earlier report from George Andreassi of the TC Palm indicated the Mets made the changes to those plans to fit within the $55 million in funds provided by the government. These amended plans were approved by the County Commission.
