Cory Vaughn, who had been sidelined since June 2nd with a right elbow strain, will be moving up from High-A St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton. On the heels of the Cesar Puello suspension, a roster spot opened up for Vaughn. Adam Rubin of ESPN New York broke the news via twitter.

Prior to getting hurt, Vaughn was enjoying a nice season with the B-Mets. The outfielder was hitting .288/.370/.447 with six home runs and 31 RBIs in 170 at-bats (45 games played).

He was on a rehab assignment for nine games in the Gulf Coast League prior to coming off that and being assigned to St. Lucie for the time being. In 12 games and 39 at-bats, Vaughn hit .205/.354/.282 with three RBIs and five runs scored.

It will be nice to get him back up to Double-A, but the absence of Cesar Puello definitely will be missed. However, I’m curious to see if Vaughn is able to produce at the level he was prior to his injury, for the rest of the season.
