Cyclones 3, Yankees 2

The Cyclones pulled out a win last night, scoring three unearned runs thanks to three errors by the Yankees. Brooklyn jumped out to an early lead, scoring a run in the top of the first inning on an error by Staten Island shortstop Jose Rosario.

Miller Diaz took the mound on the heels of his recent selection as NYPL Pitcher of the Week. He was dominant through the first four innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven. Diaz would run into some trouble in the fifth, surrendering the lead on three singles to go with a walk and two wild pitches.

Brooklyn would go ahead for good in the 7th inning, scoring two runs on a single by Cyclones centerfielder Patrick Biondi.

Reliever Kevin McGowan would secure the win, dominating the final three innings. He struck out five Yankees while allowing just one hit.
