In those two starts that spurred him earning this honor, the righty allowed one run on six hits (one home run), no walks, and 13 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched. He earned the victory in both of those decisions, getting him his first two wins of the season. Ramos is only 17 years old and getting a taste of the Dominican Summer League for the first time, but he’s been impressive in his first four starts.

Through 18.2 innings pitched, Ramos has compiled a 0.96 ERA and 0.80 WHIP, while allowing 12 hits, three walks, and 19 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .179 off him, but he’s been tougher on left-handers thus far; they’re only hitting .111 off him. He was getting his feet wet in his first two starts of the season, only throwing 7.2 innings combined with three walks and six strikeouts. As he’s gotten a little more comfortable, his workload per start has increased, and he’s continued to succeed, which is shown through his most recent appearances.

Congratulations to Darwin on this honor! Hopefully he’ll continue playing well and have a successful season in the DSL.
