Columbia Fireflies starter David Peterson is in a great groove right now after going seven innings on Sunday again on Sunday. It was his third straight start of seven innings pitched and giving up one earned run or less.

The Mets 2017 first round pick went seven innings allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, zero walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 91 pitches with 63 of them coming for strikes while recording nine groundball outs and only one out in the air.

The tall lefty was mostly 91-93 mph with his fastball while showing good command of a slider that was getting late and sharp action on it.

Peterson, 23, lowered his season ERA to 1.91 over 37.2 innings. He has allowed only 22 hits in that span while striking out 32 and walking 11.
