MLB Pipeline named Mets’ prospects Mark Vientos and David Peterson as their hitting and pitching prospects of the year, respectively.

Vientos, 19, spent the entire season in Columbia with the Class-A Fireflies, where he was a cog in their lineup. The third baseman hit .255 on the season with an on base percentage of .300 and a slugging percentage of .411 with 12 long balls and 62 RBIs. He did fare better in the second half of the season slashing .271/.315/.462 in 52 games.

The former second round pick is ranked as the Mets No. 6 prospect according to Pipeline.

Peterson, a lefty out of Oregon, pitched the entirety of his season in Double-A Binghamton. He struck out a career-high 122 over the course of 116 innings pitched. The 2017 first round pick posted a 4.19 ERA, 3.19 FIP, 2.91 xFIP, and his 17.1 K-BB% was fourth in the Eastern League. He is ranked right after Vientos at No. 7 according to Pipeline.

He enters his age 24 season, a pivotal one, likely heading to Syracuse to anchor the Triple-A rotation.
