Columbia Fireflies starter David Peterson was dominant on Saturday night in a career-high eight innings against the Augusta GreenJackets.

Peterson, 22, allowed six hits and only one earned run with a career-high 10 strikeouts and no walks. He threw 95 pitches with a whopping 70 of them coming for strikes. He didn’t allow a single fly out in the game while getting 13 outs on the ground.

The Mets 2017 first round pick lowered his season ERA to 1.82 and went at least seven innings for the fifth time in six starts.

Over his last seven starts, the lefty has allowed only six earned runs in 47.2 innings. He had 50 strikeouts compared to only eight walks in that span.

The terrific start should put a cap on the lefties terrific time in Columbia with a promotion to the St. Lucie Mets overdue and likely coming soon.
