Austin Laymance writes on MLB.com that David Wright is excited about the moves the team has made this off season and even feels the Mets are in a position to make the postseason for the first time since 2006.

If only we could have a crystal ball and look into the future to prove him right, because many Mets fans will start the party right now. But for the first time in a long time, Wright should feel excited, especially with the Mets finally making significant moves by bringing in the likes of Curtis Granderson and Bartolo Colon. Not to mention, the farm system has produced some really good talented players that can make their impact known as soon as this summer.

It is amazing to think that it has been nearly eight seasons since the Mets last made the playoffs. The last time the organization suffered through such a long playoff drought was from 1988 to 1999. And its not like the Mets have been a mainstay in the playoffs throughout their history, but they have fielded teams capable of at least making an appearance more than the seven on record. I am sure this Mets team would do anything to break this current streak and start a new winning streak for the fans.

Even with Harvey not in the plans for at least most of 2014, the excitement surrounding the possible major league debut of Noah Syndergaard, the emergence of Zack Wheeler into a possible Ace, and the many top talented prospects waiting their turn;Wright’s prediction may indeed come true. We have suffered long enough and it is time for a change.  It is time for an organization to have some very good breaks go their way.

With a contract that runs through 2020, Wright will at least be around long enough to see the team unfold into a possible contender, at least once if not more. The possibilities are endless if all the pieces finally fall into place, and hopefully 2014 is the summer the Mets turn it all around and bring winning baseball back to Queens. LGM!
