Desmond Lindsay, the man dubbed “The Offensive Machine” when he was taken in the second round of the 2015 draft has struggled with injuries, and he has struggled over this first 26 games this season. In fact, he entered last night’s game hitting .211/.343/.256.

However, there were some positive signs which would give you hope a breakout was coming.  He had a very good 16.7 percent walk rate on the season, which has been steadily climbing over the past week.

Also, his .279 BABIP was due for a course correction. Basically, he’s had a good approach at the plate, is seeing the ball well, and he’s been a little unlucky.

Well, last night, Lindsay finally had the breakout game many expected him to have this season with him going 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs, two doubles, a triple, and four RBI.

As impressive as that stat line was, it was all the more so when you consider he tripled and doubled off MLB Pipeline‘s number three Tiger prospect and Baseball America‘s No. 50 prospect in all of baseball – Alex Faedo

This impressive performance was just his third multi-hit game this season and his first three hit game this season. Hopefully, based upon what we saw last night, there is more of these to come this season.
