The long awaited arrival of Mets outfield prospect Desmond Lindsay in Brooklyn is over, as is his rehab assignment with the GCL Mets. He is arriving in Brooklyn today to join the Cyclones after going 4 for 10 with five walks and five strikeouts in the Gulf Coast League. He isn’t in the lineup on Friday but is in uniform and available.

His season got off to a rough start when he was hit in the head twice during extended spring training and then suffered a hamstring injury. Lindsay is no stranger to hamstring issues after missing time in 2015 with them as well.

Lindsay, 19, did finish the 2015 season with the Cyclones batting .200/.308/.267 in 45 at bats. His pro career got off to a much better start in the GCL last season when he hit .304/.400/.464 before getting promoted.

Before the season we had the center fielder ranked as our #7 prospect when our own Teddy Klein had this to say about him:

Lindsay is an intriguing power-speed profile that gives him a high ceiling package. He is fast enough for center field, but he is raw, since he was an infielder for most of his high school career.

Lindsay joins a Cyclones team that is loaded with an entire infield that was drafted in the early rounds this year but an outfield that has not been productive to this point. The top of the Brooklyn lineup could now be some combination of Lindsay, Michael Paez, Peter Alonso. Colby Woodmansee, Blake Tiberi and Ali Sanchez. I would say that is a must watch group for Mets fans.
