Dunn, Strom Receive St. Lucie April Player of Month Awards

On Wednesday night, the St. Lucie Mets gave Justin Dunn and Ian Strom their Player of the Month Awards for the Month of April for being the top pitcher and hitter for the team.

In April, Dunn was 2-2 with a 2.13 ERA, 1.500 WHIP, and a 9.9 K/9.  In his five April starts, he allowed two earned or less in each start while striking out five plus in four or his five starts.

The Mets 2016 first round pick from Boston College is 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 35 strike outs compared to 12 walks in 33.2 innings overall this year spanning seven starts. The 22-year-old two weeks on the DL to start May with a minor hamstring issue.

Strom, the Mets 2016 22nd round draft pick, hit .277/.360/.415 with a double, triple, two homers, and six RBI with seven stolen bases in 21 games. Strom would reach base safely at least once in 16 of the 20 games he started, and he scored a run in 15 of the 20 games he started. Of note, Strom was named to MMN‘s All-April Team.

The 23-year-old outfielder has seen his slash line drop to .234/.311/.327 for the season with a rough May.
