After a rocky start to the season the Mets 2012 14th round draft pick, Chris Flexen, has stepped up his performance and developed into one of the most productive pitchers in the Appalachian League.

Impressively, Flexen currently ranks among the top pitchers in the league in several key categories. He ranks fourth in ERA (2.14), fourth in strikeouts (56) and he is tied for third in WHIP (0.95). He is also tied for first in wins at 7 and is the only pitcher to throw two complete games this season (although one was in a 7 inning double header).
He added to his impressive body of work last night, when he made his best start of the season. Against the Burlington Royals, Flexen pitched 9 complete innings, giving up 0 runs, walking 1 and striking out 11. With his recent performance, he has recorded his second 11 strikeout game of the season.
Flexen began the season going 0-1 over his first two starts giving up 5 earned runs and garnering a 5.16 ERA over 8.1 IP. Since July 7th he is 7-0 with a 1.64 ERA in 55 innings pitched with 47 strikeouts and only 9 walks.
Flexen was signed to a $374,400 rookie contract in 2012. He is widely known for his impressive command, low-90’s fastball and quality breaking pitches. With his recent high-level performances, the 19-year-old Flexen is shaping up to be one of the Mets best prospects at the short season level.

Can we get an update on Amed Rosario he has stepped up his production lately wiih the way Cechinni has stepped up we now my have 2 good SS prospects working their way towards Fushing.
Said at the time and will continue to he was an absolute steal. They say teams were scared he wanted money like a top 5 round pick. I didn’t care & wouldn’t have minded if they took him in the top 5 rounds. They are taking all these projectable body types and there awesome.

I completely agree with you…he’s really showing his value this year.
Thank you very much Matt. Seriously this year and last year I feel like I am watching the Mets system in 82 and 83 again, so much talent coming into and up the ranks I get excited for our teams future every time I read the scouting reports, articles and look at the box scores. Soon all we will need will be those 2 or 3 big moves to get the last pieces to the puzzle. Who are this generations Hernandez , Carter and Ojeda. Or this time are those big pieces going to be all home grown?
My pleasure! I agree with you, it seems like history is starting to repeat itself (at least, that’s what I’m hoping). This winter will be a telling one for us to find out where the immediate and long-term direction of this team is going.
