With the New York Mets needing 5.1 innings from their bullpen last night, RHP Chris Flexen will be recalled to bolster the bullpen.

Flexen last pitched on June 16th. In that game, he threw 92 pitches over five innings.

As a result, it will be interesting to see how or if he is used considering he is on just three days of rest.

The last time Flexen was called up was on May 19th. He would sit unused in the bullpen for over a week before being inserted into a blowout against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The rusty Flexen allowed seven runs (three earned) on eight hits in two innings of work. He was immediately sent down to Triple-A after that appearance.

Flexen had a strong start to the season prior to that call-up. In seven starts and one relief appearance, he was 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA.

Since his outing against the Brewers, Flexen has struggled in his last four starts going 1-3 with a 9.82 ERA.

At the moment, there has been no corresponding move announced to make room for Flexen on the 25 man roster.
