Omaha 4, Las Vegas 3

It was a close game for Las Vegas, but they ended up losing control when Armando Rodriguez allowed the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Chris Schwinden took the mound for the 51s on Sunday and pitched the first four innings. He was taken out after only 58 pitches, but he allowed two runs over that frame,  including a solo home run to Max Ramirez. Justin Hampson supplied a scoreless inning after that – and Dylan Owen also tossed one in the bottom of the eighth.

As highlighted earlier though, Rodriguez struggled in the sixth, where he allowed a two-out RBI double to Xavier Nady and then an RBI single to Anthony Seratelli to account for the two runs in the inning. He would go on to pitch a second inning where he allowed no runs, however.

Offensively, the big splash for Las Vegas was a two-run third inning, where the 51s led off with three straight hits from Landon Powell, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and Josh Satin – with Satin’s being an RBI knock. Andrew Brown added a sacrifice fly in the inning as well.

Wilmer Flores went deep in the top of the fifth to add the third Vegas run, his fourth of the year.  Of note is that Andrew Brown left this game with an oblique injury. The 51s take on the Iowa Cubs tomorrow at 7:35 ET.
