Kirk Nieuwenhuis is heading back to Las Vegas to make room for Wilmer Flores.  Flores will join the team on Thursday and is scheduled to be in the lineup at short stop in place of Ruben Tejada.

Nieuwenhuis is back in Vegas again where he has played in 49 games this season.  Flores was tearing things up in Triple-A, and probably deserved a promotion even prior to Tejada getting plunked by a pitch.  Everything with Tejada appears ok at this time which is good.

Wilmer Flores is en-route to join the Mets in Milwaukee for their series opener tonight against the Brew-Crew.

There has been no corresponding move as of yet. None of the Mets beat writers had the story, as it was first announced on the Mets twitter account.

Some speculation can be made on this. It is possible that Ruben Tejada did not feel well when he woke up today and might be headed to the DL. Another possibility is that the Mets have decided to move to five outfielders and have sent down/cut Kirk NieuwenhuisChris Young or Bobby Abreu.

Some conspiracy theorists might suggest that the Mets are close to a deal to move Daniel Murphy. No reports of anything like that so far but I suppose it could be a long-shot speculation. I don’t think this is the case.

We will update this post as more information is reported.
