Las Vegas 6, Salt Lake 3

A ninth-inning rally today has the Las Vegas 51s back in sole possession of first place in the Pacific Southern Division standings with about two weeks remaining in the Triple-A season.

Trailing by one run in their last at-bats, the 51s scored four times in the top of the ninth for a 6-3 come-from-behind victory in the final game of a series at host Salt Lake.

With one out in the ninth, Lucas Duda’s run-scoring single evened the score at 3-all. After two Las Vegas walks, Matt den Dekker followed with a bases-clearing hit to cap the rally.

Rafael Montero made the start today and allowed two runs over five innings of work. In order to allow him to keep a regular starting schedule throughout the rest of the MiLB season, it looks like Montero will be limited in each of his starts moving forward.

Meanwhile in Sacramento, the host River Cats were defeated for the second straight night by Tucson, falling 7-6 to drop out of a first-place tie with Las Vegas.

The 51s return home to Cashman Field at 7:05 Wednesday to open a five-game series against Fresno.
