Fulmer Gets Drilled By Comebacker And Removed From Game

fulmerOh Fulmer, we hardly knew ye… Quoting Adam Rubin: “…Michael Fulmer tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings. He departed with a potential shoulder injury after fielding a comebacker from rehabbing Casey Kotchman.”

It’s a shame that this had to happen to begin with, but the timing makes it doubly disappointing. Fulmer finally looked like he was starting to return to form in St. Lucie after rehabbing from his surgery earlier this year — and as mentioned by Rubin, he had fired 3.1 scoreless innings before getting hit by the liner. Considering he still fielded the ball on the play, I’ve heard that his removal from the game was more pre-caution than anything else. Even Rubin says “potential” shoulder injury, so keep your fingers crossed, readers…

Fulmer had pitched to a 3.44 ERA in St. Lucie over 34.0 innings with 29 strikeouts and a .198 BAA.
