Gavin Cecchini was hit by a pitch on the foot on May 9 and has not seen the field since. The 2012 first round pick has dealt with a setback and Las Vegas 51s manager, Tony DeFrancesco, does not expect him to be back before the All-Star game. Cecchini was hitting .294/.342/.468 before getting hurt.

He is still with the team but is expected to head to Port St. Lucie in the near future to start his rehab assignment. Ceechini is currently not able to do much in terms of physical activities. It would behoove Ceechini to recover quickly so he can get a shot in the Major Leagues come August. In the likely event the Mets move Asdrubal Cabrera, the Mets will give chances to their minor leaguers as a try-out of sorts.

David Thompson underwent elbow surgery and will not be back anytime soon according to DeFrancesco.

Thompson was rehabbing with the Brooklyn Cyclones but it ended abruptly and now we know why.

Thompson was a fourth round pick back in 2015 and he hit .263/.325/.429 with a strong end to the season. He also did well in the Arizona Fall League but it appears this is now a lost season for him.
