Greenville 5, Savannah 1

It was a tough day on the mound for Robert Gsellman who was knocked around for five earned runs – which included a two-run home run to David Chester in the third. He lasted six innings, but allowed ten hits over that span, which led to the aforementioned five runs. Tyler Vanderheiden and Tim Peterson each tossed a scoreless inning in relief with one strikeout.

The Sand Gnats only registered five hits in this game, a single from five different guys. Their only run crossed the plate on a Jayce Boyd RBI single which scored Phillip Evans. Kevin Plawecki flew into an unfortunate double play right after that where Stefan Sabol got thrown out at home.

Savannah has a double-header in front of them tomorrow when they fly to Kannapolis, with game 1 at 5:05 being the rest of a suspended game from May 3rd. The second game starts at 7:05.
