The Mets picked a whopping 10 left-handed pitchers in the 2015 draft after selecting only 16 in the previous three drafts combined. When they signed Michael Cuddyer in the offseason they surrendered their 2015 first round pick. The Mets were able to sign 21 out of their 39 picks with Thomas Hackimer (15th RD) being highest pick not to sign.

  • Desmond Lindsay, 2nd RD: The 18-year old had his pro debut held back until July 24th while he nursed a hamstring injury. Fared well in 21 games for GCL Mets hitting .304/.400/.464 with seven extra base hits. Struggled after promotion to Brooklyn Cyclones, slash line of .200/.308/.267 in 14 games. Played all his games defensively in center field.
  • Max Wotell, 3rd RD: The 19-year old left-handed pitcher allowed only three earned runs on two hits in 10.2 innings for the GCL Mets to start his career. He did walk nine though while striking out 16.
  • David Thompson, 4th RD: The third baseman struggled in his debut hitting .218/.268/.320 in 59 games for the Cyclones. He was second on team with both 22 runs and 22 RBI.
  • Thomas Szapucki, 5th RD: The lefty only made three appearances and got crushed in his debut allowing four runs in 0.1 innings. Pitched one scoreless inning in his two other outings. MLB Pipeline actually had him ranked pre-draft ahead of Wotell.
  • Chase Ingram, 6th RD: The righty pitched in 20 innings for the Kingsports Mets holding opponents to a .167 average, 3.60 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. The reliever also struck out 27 batters.
  • Corey Taylor, 7th RD: Didn’t allow a run until 13th pro outing for Cyclones, gave up only three in 18 innings of relief. Had a 16/4 SO/BB while pitching mostly 8th inning for Brooklyn.
  • Patrick Mazeika, 8th RD: The 21-year old C/1B crushed Appalachian League pitching, hitting .354/.451/.540 in 62 games for Kingsport. Led league with 27 doubles, 2nd in RBI with 48 and third with his .991 OPS. APPY All-Star and APPY MiLB.com player of month for August.
  • Kevin Kaczmarski, 9th RD: The lefty hitting outfielder led the APPY with his .355 average and 91 hits. Was second in league with 20 steals and five triples. The 23-year old was 2.5 years older than league average. APPY All-Star.
  • Witt Haggard, 10th RD: The righty reliever allowed seven runs in 12.1 innings for Kingsport. Did strike out 21 though in that time and picked up three saves.
  • Jake Simon, 11th RD: Had a 2.81 ERA for GCL Mets despite league hitting .302 against him and a 1.50 WHIP. The 18-year old lefty pitched 16 innings of relief.
  • Joe Shaw, 12th RD: The right-handed pitcher had a sparkling 17/3 SO/BB to go along with 3.29 ERA in 13.2 innings for Kingsport. Also had three saves.
  • P.J. Conlon, 13th RD: PJ was completely dominant is his debut allowing only two unearned runs in 17 innings for Brooklyn. The lefty struck out 25, allowed just two walks and eight hits. Here is my recent interview with the 21-year old.
  • Vinny Siena, 14th RD: Started his pro career off on fire hitting safely in 20 of his first 22 games for Brooklyn. Hit a wall in July and finished hitting .273/.337/.304 in 68 games for the Cyclones. Went 3-16 with two walks in four games with St. Lucie. Was a New York-Penn League All-Star.
  • Dillon Becker, 16th RD: Right-handed pitcher had a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings for Kingsport, struck out 18 and allowed only 10 hits.
  • Sixto Torres, 17th RD: Lefty who somehow had a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings for GCL Mets despite having a 1.94 WHIP and walking more (13) than he struck out (12).
  • Jordan Humphreys, 18th RD: 19-year old who walked just one in 11.2 innings for the GCL Mets. Had a 1.54 ERA and was a perfect 2-2 in save chances.
  • Thomas McIlraith, 20th RD: Right-hander that went 6-1 with 1.71 ERA in 12 games (9 starts) for Kingsport. Had a 1.16 WHIP and league hit .221 against him.
  • Taylor Henry, 21st RD: Another lefty who pitched strictly out of the bullpen for Kingsport giving up four runs in 8.2 innings. Righties hit just .182 off him.
  • Kenneth Bautista 23rd RD: The 18-year old outfielder struggled mightily in 33 games in the GCL. He hit .187/.241/.252 with 36 strikeouts.
  • Anthony Dimino 28th RD: Strong debut from the 22-year old catcher/first baseman that hit .295/.380/.343 with 15/16 BB/SO in 30 games for GCL Mets.
  • Seth Davis 29th RD: Left-handed reliever that struck out 22 in 19.1 innings for Kingsport. Walked just three batters and had a 2.79 ERA.
