Positive news on New York Mets infield prospect Jeff McNeil. Jeff had double sports hernia in May 2015.  During the initial MRI they saw a tear in his hip labrum that may have been the cause of the hernias.

The plan was to correct the hernias, play out the 2016 season and get surgery on the hip at the end of the year but the rehab wasn’t going as planned so it was best to get the hip surgery done and be ready for 2017, effectively ending his 2016 and lasting into the offseason to recover.

Word today is that Jeff McNeil, who has been rehabbing all offseason in Port St. Lucie, will possibly be seeing game action next week, as early as this coming Tuesday. Appears the plan is for Jeff to stay in St. Lucie for rehab games before presumably heading off to Binghamton with the Mets AA affiliate.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jeff during this past offseason. Here is the link.
